Minutes from March 17,2025 Zoom Meeting

Meeting opened at 6:00pm.

Members Present: Derek Daniels, Cheryl Hoffman, Mitch Kagen, Jake Byron, Pat Wiedhopf, Sharon Spiker, Val Reynolds, Sarah Read

Members Absent: Miki Zeman

Minutes from the 2/17/25 meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

Membership account balance as of March 17, 2025: $4,883.06

Membership update: 47 households (2 new)

Donor Plaque account balance as of March 17, 2025: $3,935.96

Zelle is operational for the VDR dues account, with Jake being the first (and only so far) to pay dues

this way.

Website Report: Jake has WIX access in Sarah’s absence. He will monitor the website. Sarah has

been reimbursed $216.64 for WIX costs.

Committee Updates:

Archaeology Report – Balance of March 17, 2025: $4,252.06

The Cultural Resources Park tour, held on March 1, 2025 was successful, with about 17

people in attendance. It appears that the attendees were new people, not Vista Del Rio

residents.

It has been acknowledged that there is a problem with people curbing their dogs.

Business Updates:

With Zelle operational, Jake will get the information/e-mail out using a QR code that will

contain Val’s e-mail address that links to the account. Zelle payments will be noted as such on

the funds status report (VDR dues tab).

No Safe Streets updates except that speed bumps have been painted!

DAC meeting of 2/19/25 – The meeting was mostly about Proposition 414. Lots of people and

lots of participation. TPD Chief spoke eloquently in support of Prop 414.

Ward 2 – Mitch worked elections surrounding Prop 414, which was defeated with 70%

opposing and 30% supporting. Mitch collected over 1,000 ballots!

A tentative budget is to be proposed in April 2025. Decisions as to priorities will have to be

made.

Overlaminate for the Vista Del Rio sign – The expenditure was approved unanimously by the

Board, with a motion by Cheryl and second by Pat. Sharon will purchase, estimated cost is

$239.98 + tax. Sharon will be reimbursed by check from the VDR dues account. The same

amount will be transferred from the Donor Plaque fund to reimburse the VDR dues account, as

voted upon and approved by the Board.

New Business:

Cheryl raised the issue of rough, uneven pavement in the Cultural Resources Park. This presents a

safety hazard for bicyclists and walkers alike. She’ll raise the issue with Ward 2.

Spring Activities:

Meet the Board/Movie in the Park event was discussed. What are the incentives to get

residents to come to the event? Shall we partner with Casa Rio?

Tentative date of April 26, 2025 looks good.

Tree Trimmings in the park (raised in Casa Rio’s Board meeting) – is this a fire hazard? Get it

before Brush and Bulky happens. Will Casa Rio do a roll-off? Derek will initiate with the Casa

Rio President and Secretary with information from Cheryl.

Brush and Bulky – June 30, 2025

Weed spraying time? Derek will get advice and a quote. Same areas - washes and riprap?

Pat raised the issue of a Garage Sale, for which she has signage. We need to get an

indication of interest. We might ask in the newsletter. Perhaps in October, around the time of

the roll-offs? TABLED FOR NOW.

Cheryl will call about the roll-off dates (proposing 2nd or 3rd week of October).

Utilize 311 to address water fountain issues in the Cultural Resources Park.

Next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025 at 6pm.
