June 1, 2026 Meeting Minutes
Meeting opened at 6:04 pm with a call to order.
Members Present:
Derek Daniels, Val Reynolds, Pat Wiedhopf, Miki Zeman, Sara Read, Laurie Pumphrey, Jacob Byron.
Non-Board Members Present: none
Members Not Present: Mitch Kagen, Sharon Spiker
Minutes of the May 6, 2026 Meeting:
Minutes from the 05/06/26 meeting were approved unanimously (motion by Miki, seconded by Val).
Treasurer’s Report:
• Membership update: We are still at 40 households.
• Membership account balance as of April 7, 2026: $3,690.80
• Donor Plaque account balance as of April 7, 2026: $3,675.93
• Archaeology account balance as of April 7, 2026: $4,252.06
Derek mentioned he had called some active members to renew as well as a few others to
bring in new members. Val will cleanup list.
Website Update/Facebook Page
Sara advised that the meeting minutes were posted to the website and current updates to the Facebook page. Mitch had previously suggested adding the TPD ODE meeting
minutes, but we can post a link instead. 92 visitors with 82 unique ones to website. 1
person reached out; neighbors who had their truck broken into. Derek will contact TPD. For expanded coverage, we can consider posting the newsletter to poles in the future.
Park Stewardship:
Sara is next member scheduled and is on now.

Business/Updates:
• Ward 2 – Mitch is not present to give update.
• Eegee’s: For the May 16 event, we had 15 attendees.
• VDR Activity Suggestions: Some were received from the Gephart family: a bake sale
and cornhole/water fight, cooking contest, and baby race. We need to consider whether
there is a liability for hosting food events or a baby race. Some of these could be run in
conjunction with a yard sale.
• Fall Activities: Attendees of the Eegee’s event expressed interest in the Stargazing
suggestion. Laurie will reach out for more information. It was also mentioned that
Saguaro National Park has star parties.
• Brush & Bulky week of June 8th: A cultural park cleanup is suggested as part of the
pickup.
• Cultural Park cleanup: Derek suggested meeting up to clean the park. Jake will bring
wheelbarrow; Val has a wagon. This is scheduled for Saturday June 6 at 7:00 a.m.
• Fire Hydrant Updates: Two non operational hydrants near the park are leaking. Derek
has reached out; it has gotten repaired.
• Homeless Encampment: Neighbor has reported a new encampment in the wash area
near westside in trees. It was unclear if the camp was still present.
• Grant Proposal: Val starting to review and tweak. It was suggested to revise the amount
down.
