Minutes from August 10, 2026 Zoom Meeting

(Rescheduled from August 3, 2026 due to lack of quorum)

1. Meeting opened at 6:10 pm with a call to order.

Members Present: Derek Daniels, Pat Wiedhopf, Miki Zeman, Sara Read, Laurie

Pumphrey, Sharon Spiker, Mitch Kagen.

Non-Board Members Present: none

Members Not Present: Val Reynolds

2. Minutes of the July 8, 2026 Meeting:

Minutes from the 07/08/26 meeting were approved unanimously (motion by Laurie, seconded by Mitch).

3. Treasurer’s Report:

• Membership update: 44 members.

• Membership account balance as of May 26, 2026: $3,690.80

• Donor Plaque account balance as of May 26, 2026: $3,675.93

• Archaeology account balance as of May 26, 2026: $4,252.06

The reimbursement check has been cashed.

4. Website Update/Facebook Page

Sara advised that there were 87 visitors to the website. Sara has taken over oversite of

both website and Facebook page. An individual from Casa del Rio had inquired about the

annual yard sale.

5. Park Stewardship:

Schedule has been made until November:

6. Business/Updates:

• Ward 2 updates – Mitch indicated he placed another call to Ward 2, but no answer. The

ward newsletters have been fluffy with not a whole lot in them. No new updates. Pat W.

also did not hear from Pat Burns at Ward 2. Laurie will also try to contact him. The city

budget has ramada and walking path repair for FY 27.

• Board of Directors: There is one opening; Derek has a neighbor in mind to approach.

Mitch suggested a card and/or gift (such as a gift certificate) for Jake’s service. Jake

should be emailed to obtain address.

• Prior Member Outreach: It was discussed how to reach out to new neighbors and prior

members to increase membership. Note: the roster needs to be updated and divided up

for outreach.• Fall Activities: Laurie reached out to UofA and Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association

for details on having a telescope viewing night or “star party”. UofA does not offer this,

but TAAA does; we will need a date to set this up. For the yard sale, Oct. 17 was settled

upon and will not be a potential star party date.

• Weeds maintenance: Miki will reach out to a landscaper and obtain a quote.

• Roll Off Request: Derek sent email to Alicia @ EGSD but has not heard back for

scheduling roll off in October. Laurie will also reach out to a contact at EGSD for

clarification on 1 versus 2 roll offs. We have 226 homes, so having 2 is essential.

• Newsletter: The newsletter needs to include items for homes needing weed

maintenance, membership drive, upcoming events (stargazing, Halloween, Hayride,

yard sale). Stress that membership funds these events. Laurie will provide a draft by

August 20 to Pat so we can distribute it by Aug. 21.

7. New Business

We had a short discussion regarding a pothole, south of Rio Verde past the 4-way stop; it’s

a little rough; someone also took a chunk of the speedbump.

8. Announcements

No announcements made due to time.

9. Next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 6:00

pm.
